The purpose of this paper are;(1) to give an analytical definition to the key concept of the “Function”which plays the central role in the structural-functional analysis,(2) to offer some comments on the theoretical differences between the concept of the “Total Function” and the “Marginal Function,”(3) to apply the fundamental theories using these concepts to the Sociology of Law placing special emphasis on the analysis of conflict.
