| 感想文等 | 第37話「主水娘と同居する」は、他の新仕事人エピソードと比べて特に突出したドラマというわけでもない。やはり何かしらの物足りなさを感じることは否めない。
が、ここでの主水の姿は、これが「仕留人」「仕置屋」「仕業人」「新仕置人」「商売人」……と辿ってきた中村主水の最後の姿だったのだ、と見たとき、小さな安堵のようなものを感じさせるものでもあるのだ。
主水の辿ってきた、ヒーローとしての、修羅としての、「恐ろしい男」としての道。どれだけ多くのものを失い続けてきたことだろう。仲間を、夢を、恋を、友を、家族を、自分の信じる「正義」を、全て失い、みずから踏みにじり、信じられなくなり、捨て去り、忘れ去り、唾棄し、置き去ったきた……
待っているのは、「いずれ私も地獄道」のはずだったのだ。
だが、「ぎりぎりいっぱい生き」のびた主水は、「新仕置人」チーム時代と同じように長い年月を共にするようになった若い仲間達を得ることをし、「仕置」でなく「仕事」を、「商売」ですらない「仕事」を、一歩退いた形で手にした……
そこに展けたのは、修羅を一呼吸外して「裏ですらも昼行灯」になっての、死から逃れる道だったのだ。
そうして、主水は仲間達を喪失することも免れるようになった。
「正義」や「信念」や……そうした、青臭いままだった部分を血みどろになりながら剥ぎ取った主水は、それらへの拘りを捨て去ることでもはや「ヒーロー」性は失い、昔から彼を追い続けてきたものにとって魅力をなくしたかもしれない。
だが、それが彼の選択だったのだ。
この時点で、どぶ川の中に顔をつっこんで死んでいる主水の未来は消失した。余生を弛緩した老人として仕事人の思い出を孫に作り事のように話す主水像が生まれてきたのだ。
生きのびる……それを貴重にするならば、そう、確かにこれでよかったのだ。
次に主水が「青臭い」ことを……「許せない」ことを口にしたとき……再び多くの仲間達を失うことになった、「裏か表か」事件が発生するのだ。
主水が「娘と同居」し続けることが出来ていたなら、すべての未来は塗り替えられていただろう。
この「主水娘と同居する」は、中村主水やその仲間達にとって、最終最後の分岐点だったのかもしれない。(おっぺ)
